Hyundai is gearing up to introduce a new electric crossover model within the next few months, as part of its plans to expand its electric vehicle lineup. This new model is expected to be the electric alternative to the Bayon. It’s anticipated to be launched in the third quarter of 2026, with a projected price around 30,000 euros.

The upcoming vehicle is said to be based on the same platform as Kia’s soon-to-be-unveiled EV2 and will be positioned between the Inster and Kona Electric in Hyundai’s product range. Expected to be roughly the same size as the Bayon, this electric crossover will compete with models like the Renault 4 and Volvo EX30 in the market.

According to Xavier Martinet, the new CEO of Hyundai Europe, the vehicle will be unveiled in a few months and is slated for a market release in the third quarter of 2026 according to the brand’s timeline. This suggests that initial deliveries could begin around July 2026. While there’s no official confirmation, there’s a high probability that this model will be the electric Hyundai produced in Turkey, as previous statements indicated that production at the Izmit factory would commence in 2026.

The new model is expected to be built on the scalable E-GMP platform, which is used in many electric vehicles across the Hyundai Group (Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis). This could give the vehicle a technical infrastructure similar to the Kia EV3. Like the EV3, the new crossover may offer battery options of 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh, providing an estimated range of approximately 430 km and 598 km, respectively. All versions are projected to feature a single motor powering the front wheels, delivering 201 horsepower.

Inside, Hyundai promises a significant transformation to enhance the driving experience. The new infotainment system is expected to automatically adjust elements like ambient lighting and in-car sound based on the driving mode. Furthermore, discussions suggest that the driver’s display and multimedia screen will be integrated and designed to cover more than half of the cockpit.

Regarding pricing, the vehicle is anticipated to be around the 30,000 euro mark. When it hits the roads in 2026, the new model will be the sixth electric vehicle in Hyundai’s EV family.
