The man who attempted to assassinate former President Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania over the weekend acted alone, according to the FBI. Federal investigators identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old man from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania and said the AR-style rifle used was legally purchased by the gunman’s father.
When the gunman opened fire on Trump, he killed a supporter of the former president identified as Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief who used his own body to protect his family from gunfire. Two other men were critically wounded in the attack.
LiveNOW from FOX’s Josh Breslow spoke with Vatan Cana, who was in the crowd at Trump’s rally. He explained that law enforcement had been looking in the shooter’s direction for 15 minutes prior to the gunfire.
Just two days after being shot, Trump appeared at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he revealed JD Vance would be his running mate in the November election.
