A crew of six women will ride Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket on a suborbital flight to the edge of space at the upper edge of Earth’s atmosphere. Mission space flight NS-31 (NS31, NS 31) is set to lift off Monday morning (April 14) from the company’s launch facilities in West Texas, at the time of 9:30 am ET.
According to reports, the group’s flight will last 11 minutes and reach 62 miles above the surface to the limits of Earth’s atmosphere. The women will not actually reach orbit.
Katy Perry will step aboard Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket ship on an historic all female mission along with the Amazon founder’s fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, CBS morning talk-show host Gayle King, Hollywood film producer Kerianne Flynn, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen.
