Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi is not getting carried away after back-to-back wins and accepts Leeds will present a stiff test tomorrow night.
Spurs moved out of the bottom three with a 2-1 victory at Aston Villa last weekend and have the chance to back that up against a Leeds side whose recent resurgence has seen them pull clear of the relegation zone.
Daniel Farke’s men have made an impressive return to the top flight and De Zerbi knows Leeds must not be underestimated.
“First of all, we are playing against one of the best teams in the league, in this moment,” he said. “In the past five or six games, they won against Manchester United, they drew at Bournemouth playing well, they won at home two times – Wolves and Burnley – and for that we have a big respect. We can’t think in a different way. We have to keep this mentality. We must remain humble. Nothing has changed. We have to prepare for an important game.”
Conor Gallagher scored the opener against Villa and De Zerbi was delighted to see the England midfielder finally come good after a slow start following his move from Atletico Madrid in January.
The Italian added: “I’m happy. He came in a difficult situation. He had some problems at the beginning. He is an important player. I am happy to watch him in this condition. I said after the Villa game, when Gallagher plays well, his team plays with one player more than the opponent.”
Farke skipped his usual media duties on Friday due to illness with his assistant Eddie Riemer standing in.
Riemer said: “It will be a huge test. Spurs will go for it, the manager has managed to get them out of relegation places so we need to be up to it and maintain our top form. It is the best form we have been in all season. We want to finish the season on a high and as soon as possible, seal it mathematically.”
