Tesla (TSLA) shares rebounded today after a five-day slide. Nancy Tengler, CEO and chief investment officer at Laffer Tengler Investments, joins Catalysts hosts Madison Mills and Seana Smith to discuss the outlook for the company.
She emphasizes that while Tesla’s stock has been volatile, it is up about 49% on a long-term annualized basis. She also reiterates that Tesla is more than just an electric vehicle (EV) company, noting its advancements in energy and artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in full self-driving technology.
“We do not think this is an EV company anymore; we think it’s an energy company,” she explains. “Battery storage grew over 100% last quarter, over 50% the previous quarter. We think that it’s an AI company.”
“This is not a company that trades on valuation; it’s a company that trades on the story,” Tengler adds. “So, if you believe in the AI story and you get a pullback of 30–40%, then I think you add to holdings, and you just have to be disciplined,” Tengler advises.
