Happy 42nd birthday to 15-year NBA veteran sharpshooter and current Los Angeles Lakers head coach, JJ Redick!
Redick was selected with the 11th-overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft out of Duke, and while he was never made an All-Star team, the shooting ability that allowed him to dominate in Durham helped him carve out a very respectable NBA career.
He made at least 200 three-pointers in four different seasons and he led the entire NBA by shooting 47.5 percent from deep on 421 attempts in 2015-16.
He’d go on to play 940 games over his decade-and-a-half with six different teams before retiring with 1,950 three-pointers to his name. After retiring, he moved into a media role with ESPN and on his own before he was hired to coach LeBron James and the Lakers ahead of the 2024-25 season. In his two years on the sideline, he’s 103-61 in the regular season and won his first playoff series as skipper over the Houston Rockets even without Luka Doncic.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players to lead the NBA in three-point shooting percentage for each season of the Three-Point Era (since 1979-80) can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
