Deion Sanders seemingly plans to remain the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, but he may accept an NFL head-coaching job under one condition. 

In a Wednesday interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Sanders said he would consider leaving Colorado if a team drafted his sons, Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur and safety Shilo.

“The only way I would consider is to coach my sons. Not son. Sons,” Deion Sanders said. “I love Colorado. I love my Buffaloes. I love everything that we’re building. I love everything that we’re doing, and I love Boulder, Colorado.”  

Some teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders, need a new QB and HC. On Tuesday, Vegas fired Antonio Pierce after he went 4-13 in his first season as the full-time HC. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently tabbed the Raiders as a landing spot for Deion Sanders if they canned Pierce.  

Still, it seems unlikely that the Raiders or another franchise would hire Deion Sanders and draft his sons as a package deal. 

Shedeur Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in 13 starts this past season and is expected to be a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. In his latest mock draft, ESPN’s Jordan Reid has the Cleveland Browns (3-14) taking him with pick No. 2. 

Shilo Sanders’ future seems more murky. On his updated big board, Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema lists him at No. 219 among 250 draft-eligible prospects. 

In 10 games, the sixth-year senior had 67 tackles and two passes defended. Per PFF, he posted a decent 66.3 pass-coverage grade. 

Even a desperate team may have reservations about taking Shilo Sanders, who probably won’t become an impact player in the NFL. 

With that in mind, bank on Deion Sanders staying with the Buffaloes. The program made strides in its second season under the Pro Football Hall of Famer. After going 4-8 in 2023, the Buffaloes went 9-4 and made the Alamo Bowl. They also recently signed five-star QB Julian Lewis.
