Microsoft Office has been king of the office suites for over 30 years, and it remains that way even as people yearn for viable alternatives—ones that are less bloated, more privacy-friendly, yet widely compatible with all the existing Microsoft Office files in circulation.

Proton has slowly been building up its own office suite of sorts—including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Mail, Calendar, and more—and it’s now ready to bundle it all together. Starting today, you can access the company’s privacy-first collaborative suite called Proton Workspace, worth exploring if you want to break free from the tech giants.

Proton Workspace challenges existing office suites like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace with its own privacy-centric offerings that include Proton Mail, Proton Docs, Proton Sheets, and Proton Meet. Its services are end-to-end and zero-access encrypted, meaning not even Proton can access your files stored in their cloud platform.

Proton Workspace is launching with two subscription tiers: Standard and Premium. Workspace Standard starts at $12.99/month (with annual billing) and grants access to core apps Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meet, VPN, and Pass. It also includes 1TB of cloud storage, 15 custom email domains, and up to 50 video call participants.

Workspace Premium includes everything in the Standard plan and ups the cloud storage to 3TB, the custom email domains to 20, the video call participants to 250, and grants access to the Lumo AI assistant. It starts at $19.99/month (with annual billing).
