Wright made the bold claim during an appearance on Colin Cowherd’s show “The Herd.”

“The fact of the matter is this: until he (Bron) retires, that guy is the face of professional basketball. When he retires, he should become the logo of professional basketball,” Wright said.

This remark, however, didn’t sit well with NBA fans, who ripped into Wright for suggesting Bron should be the “logo” after retiring.

“This is such an embarrassing segment,” a fan wrote.

While fans slammed Wright for his take, he had more to say while praising Bron. The broadcaster believed no player could replicate the career the 76ers star has put together and highlighted his impact on the NBA.

“What I’m saying is, no one has ever loved the sport more than LeBron James,” Wright continued. “I’m now a Sixers fan. What he has given the league, no one will ever match across multiple careers.

“The fact that we truly believe he can still be a difference-maker on a championship team at nearly 42 years old, in Year 24, is remarkable.”

Wright’s comments came after James’ move to the Philadelphia 76ers, who have emerged as title favorites following the veteran’s arrival.

However, despite the excitement surrounding the move, replacing Jerry West’s silhouette as the NBA logo remains unlikely, with the design having represented the league for decades.

LeBron James joining the Philadelphia 76ers was viewed as a “ring-chasing” move by many, as the superstar is set to link up with Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and Joel Embiid, forming the NBA’s latest superteam.

However, Nick Wright dismissed that narrative on Tuesday, arguing that if James were solely chasing another championship, he could have joined teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs.

“The Sixers haven’t been out of the second round in a quarter century. They haven’t won a title since before LeBron was born,” Wright said (Timestamp: 17:25). “The ring chasing, which he would be allowed to do in Year 24, would have been San Antonio or Oklahoma City.”

While Wright argued that James’ move to Philadelphia was not motivated by another championship, the 76ers have emerged as the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, making the “ring-chasing” narrative difficult to dismiss.
