Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty 50 and Sensex fell about half a per cent on Monday, as selling pressure in energy and FMCG shares outweighed gains in IT stocks. The Sensex lost 319.2 points to end at 77,186.7 while the Nifty 50 gave up 121.1 points to settle at 23,361.1. Broader indices Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 fell 0.9 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively, sharply underperforming the headline gauges.

Asian Paints, Tata Power, Titan, Godrej Properties, JK Tyre and PC Jeweller are among the companies set to report their quarterly numbers on Tuesday.
Power Grid
Power Grid has repoted a 1.9 per cent decline in its net profit to Rs 3,894.1 crore for the quarter ended December 31, just meeting analysts’ expectations.
Zee Business analysts had pegged the state-run company’s net profit at Rs 3,885 crore.
Tata Chemicals
Tata Chemicals has staged a weaker-than-expected financial performance ofr the October-December period.
Its consolidated loss stood at Rs 53 crore for the third quarter of the current financial year, as aginst a net profit of Rs 158 crore a year ago. Analysts pegged the Tata group chemical manufacturer’s quarterly net profit at Rs 157 crore.
Gateway Distriparks
The company has registered a multi-fold jump in its net profit to Rs 455 crore for the October-December period, driven by an exceptional gai of Rs 391 crore.
Its quarterly revenue has increased about 2.5 per cent to Rs 403 crore, according to a regulatory filing.
Cipla
Drug maker Cipla has announced an investment of Rs 426 crore in its subsidiary Cipla Medpro South Africa Proprietary (CMSA) through equity.
