Baker Mayfield is entering the final year of his current deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers heading into the 2026 season. The quarterback is currently on a three-year, $100 million contract he signed in 2024.
On Friday, Mayfield said he wants to remain with the Buccaneers beyond his current deal, and insider Greg Auman offered an insight into the QB’s demands.
Thanks for the submission!
“Baker Mayfield says he wants to stay in Tampa but they’re not close on a new contract and he’s set a deadline of the start of training camp, not wanting to negotiate after that during the season,” Auman tweeted on Friday.

When a fan suggested that the Indianapolis Colts gave Daniel Jones a two-year, $88 million deal in the offseason, Auman claimed that Mayfield might be looking for a deal better than Jones, which is $44 million annually.
“I think he wants more than that. Jones got that off half a great season and a torn Achilles,” Auman tweeted.
Jones recorded 3,101 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions for the Colts last season before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 14.
