The ever calm Jutes completely set the world on fire when an innocent question posed by him simply read, “What genre would u call this?” The post was tagged with genres like Deftones, nu-metal, shoegaze, and Linkin Park; all of Jutes’ followers flocked like a flock of birds, all trying to pin down his sound. And the lack of consensus was truly phenomenal.

Gloomy artist with an unusual genre seeming so pleased with the mayhem and so many angry voices around him. Some called it alternative rock with nu-metal influences; other unfairly named it “sensual rock” (??); and there were others who basically gave up on it and just called it unique. Another fan went so far as to call it “freak core,” and honestly, not such a bad term.

The finest part of all, however, must have been one candidate who asserted Jutes should be his very own genre, stating, “I would call it Jutes!” Even though they acknowledge influences, the music is really just about itself. The artist appeared genuinely interested and responded just with “thank u 🙌.”

Other lesser-inspired comments went all poetic, humans calling it “dark romance-y rock” and “siren alternative rock,” conjuring images of the vampire dance floor. Another one termed it as the “absolute vibe genre,” which, to me… deserves some respect.

Butterscotching began when one candidate threw in new jack swing (??), to which somebody responded, “very true,” a rare instance of accord. Meanwhile, the die-hard fans fondly talked about how versatile the Jutes’ music is—good for working out, chilling by the beach, etc.

Tour dates got dropped in as well, with Jutes teasing about some impending shows and a fan begging for a European date. And the absolute highlight? The same super-fan said that they would “literally die” if Jutes came to Germany, and Jutes replied with “I’ll come eventually I promise.” So… German boys and girls, get your wills ready just in case?

The only thing everyone agreed upon, in the end, was that this music hits no matter which box they try to put it in. With a slew of new songs just around the corner, this whole genre-remind-name-yet-so-messy vibe is only going to get worse: with how Jurassic the attacks are, I really do think Jutes has a crazy kick out of it.
