ISRAEL VS HAMAS TODAY: Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh is confirmed dead after being struck by an airstrike in the Iranian capital. Iran blamed Israel for the assassination. Iran’s supreme leader vowed revenge against Israel Defense Forces.
The strike came hours after IDF successfully targeted a top commander in Iran’s ally Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital Beirut. The strike in Tehran could push Iran & Israel into direct conflict. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, “We consider his revenge our duty…Israel has prepared a harsh punishment for itself by killing a dear guest in our home.”
Haniyeh’s assassination could push Hamas to pull out of negotiations for a potential ceasefire and hostage release deadly. Tensions were already high for Israel and Hezbollah after a rocket attack killed 12 young people in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.
