We are hearing this Sunday from Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, as New York City is bracing for its first blizzard in more than a decade. This comes as major snowfall still remains across much of the state. According to our partners at Fox Weather, total accumulations for the New York City area are expected to be between 16 and 24 inches, while parts of New Jersey could see 20–30 inches.
Governor Hochul’s remarks came after New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani declared a state of emergency for the city’s five boroughs. He also imposed a travel ban, meaning no vehicles are permitted on streets, bridges and highways for the duration of the ban, which will last until at least Monday. Cities like Boston and Philadelphia are also projected to receive between 18 and 24 inches of snow. The nation’s capital is expected to see 5-8 inches, along with nearby Baltimore, whose projections have reportedly come down overnight.
