Sagar Adani found himself squarely in the eye of a storm in 2023 when short seller Hindenburg Research accused the Adani Group, one of India’s largest conglomerates, of stock manipulation, which the group denies. Sagar, a nephew of billionaire Gautam Adani tasked with overseeing finance for the group, says he moved swiftly to respond to the attack and calm investors. Since then, Sagar Adani says he’s focused on growth for the business, including overseeing its lucrative but contentious energy unit.
