The owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, Mark Cuban, has spoken about launching a meme coin similar to $TRUMP. However, Cuban says all proceeds would go toward paying off the US national debt, which currently stands at over $36 trillion.

He went on to say that if he were to launch a meme coin, the proceeds would go toward helping pay off the ever-growing national debt.
“If meme coins are the way, maybe I’ll issue one,” Cuban said on X this week. He went on to say that his idea would have the same terms and release schedule as Trump’s coin but with one significant difference.
“All the revenue from the sale of the coins go to the US Treasury,” he posted. “If you want to gamble, gamble. But at least use it to make a dent in the US Debt.”
It’s unclear whether Cuban is serious about creating his own digital asset. After his tirade of posting on social media, Cuban replied to one X user’s comment with “Of course I won’t,” in regards to launching a meme coin.
The tech tycoon has long championed crypto as a disruptive technology, highlighting a need to focus on the tech such as smart contracts rather than token prices.

Mark Cuban is a Shark Tank investor and a minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. He earned his fortune by selling his Broadcast.com startup to Yahoo during the dot-com bubble.
During the Presidential campaign, Cuban was a vocal supporter of Kamala Harris while being a fierce critic of Trump, with the two regularly trading jibes with one another.
Cuban posted on X that the TRUMP and MELANIA meme coins are harming the cryptocurrency industry.
“If you want crypto to grow and establish value and utility that truly benefits the issuer and the buyer, then the last thing you want to see is shit coins being issued by FLOTUS and POTUS,” the billionaire said.
In a reply to a comment on his meme coin post, Cuban took a shot at the TRUMP token, essentially calling it a grift. “Everyone benefits from lower debt,” he said to one commenter, before saying to another, “If it’s a grift. Make it a grift to benefit all Americans.”
In the past twenty years, the US national debt has nearly tripled to a record $36 trillion. In a post-COVID world, tnterest rates have also surged, leading to a major rise in the federal government’s annual interest payments to above $1 trillion.
