Mikel Arteta has refused to rule out further additions to his Arsenal squad, with Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze reported to be the Gunners’ next target.

Arsenal have been busy in the transfer market as they bid to get over the line in the Premier League, having finished as runners-up in each of the last three seasons.

They have spent an estimated £210m on Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres.

Only Liverpool – whose outlay has already passed £260m ahead of a potential move for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak – have outspent the Gunners in the Premier League in the current transfer window.

The Gunners played the second game of their pre-season tour of Asia on Sunday, with Martin Odegaard’s late penalty securing a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United in Singapore.

In his post-match press conference, Arteta was asked if Arsenal’s spending could continue.

He said: “Let’s see. The market is still going on and we’ll have to balance that out with the squad as well. I think we’ll be open to seeing what happens.”

Eze is reportedly Arsenal’s next target, with the creative midfielder – who scored in Palace’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May – having a £68m release clause in his contract.

Eze registered 16 goal involvements (eight goals, eight assists) in the Premier League last season, with Bukayo Saka (six goals, 10 assists) the only Arsenal player to match that figure.

Arsenal are also hoping to secure the long-term futures of some of their star players, and after Gabriel Magalhaes penned a new contract last month, his defensive partner William Saliba may soon follow suit.

Asked when he would commit his future to the club by AFTVMedia, the France international said: “Hopefully soon! God is great. This year we will try to win everything!”
