I have spent years testing outdoor robotics, and if there is one thing that consistently ruins the “autonomous” dream, it is the autumn leaf fall. Most robot mowers just mulch leaves into the soil, but the Yuka 3D is the first time I have seen a machine actually take out the trash. It’s a dual-threat system that promises to mow your lawn and sweep up debris without the headache of perimeter wires, and after seeing it in action, I can say the era of the “garden servant” has truly arrived.

✅ True Wire-Free Setup: Uses 3D Vision and RTK-GNSS, meaning no digging trenches or laying cables.✅ Autonomous Sweeping: The optional kit collects leaves and grass, then self-empties at a designated spot.✅ Precision Navigation: Its AI vision handles obstacle avoidance and continues to work even under heavy tree cover where GPS fails.❌ Bulky Attachment: The sweeper kit adds significant length to the robot, making tight turns more difficult.❌ Manual Height Adjustment: Unlike some premium rivals, you still have to turn a physical dial to adjust the cutting height.❌ Steep Slopes: While it handles 45% inclines while mowing, this drops significantly to 18% when the sweeper is attached.FeatureDetailsNavigation System3D Vision + RTK-GNSS FusionMowing CapacityUp to 3,000 m² (Model dependent)Cutting Width320 mm (Dual Discs)Sweeper Capacity22L Self-Emptying BasketConnectivity4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

My Experience with the Yuka 3D

Setting up the Yuka 3D was a revelation compared to the old-school robot mowers I used to struggle with. Usually, I’d spend an entire Saturday pegging down a perimeter wire that would inevitably get sliced by a spade two months later. With the Yuka, I simply placed the RTK station in a spot with a clear view of the sky and used the app to “drive” the mower around the boundary like a remote-controlled car. The mapping process took about 15 minutes for my half-acre yard.

The standout feature is undoubtedly the 3D Vision. Most RTK mowers get “lost” when they go under a thick oak tree or near a tall wall because they lose satellite signal. The Yuka handles this beautifully by switching to its visual sensors, recognizing the environment and maintaining its path with centimeter-level accuracy. I tested it by placing a rogue garden gnome in its path; the AI identified it instantly and maneuvered around it without missing a blade of grass.

Now, let’s talk about the sweeping kit. This is where the Yuka earns its keep. It’s a motorized brush system that flings grass clippings and leaves into a rear hopper. It’s incredibly satisfying to watch it autonomously drive over to my compost pile, tilt its back, and dump a load of debris before returning to work. However, you do need to be mindful of the terrain. When that hopper is full, the mower gets heavy and can lose traction on muddy slopes. Also, it’s worth noting that it prefers dry leaves; if they are soaked and matted into the soil, the brushes might struggle to lift every single one.

The Mammotion app is surprisingly deep. You can even use the “Lawn Art” feature to program the mower to cut patterns or even logos into the grass using different heights. While it feels a bit gimmicky, it shows how precise the positioning is. Overall, the Yuka 3D feels like a polished, high-tech solution for people who want a pristine lawn without the physical labor of raking and bagging.

Who is this for? / Alternatives

The Yuka 3D is perfect for homeowners with medium-sized yards (up to 0.75 acres) who have several trees and struggle with leaf management in the fall. If you just want a standard cut and don’t care about sweeping, the Mammotion Luba 2 AWD is a better choice for steeper hills. For those in the European market looking for high-end vision, the EcoVacs GOAT G1 is a strong competitor, though it lacks the leaf-sweeping capability.

Quick FAQ

Does it require a perimeter wire? No, it uses a combination of satellite (RTK) and 3D Vision to navigate without any buried wires.

Can it sweep wet leaves? It can handle damp leaves, but for the best self-emptying and sweeping performance, dry conditions are highly recommended.

Is the sweeper kit included?Usually, the sweeper kit is sold as an optional add-on or part of a bundle, so check your specific package before buying.
