Just the drop of the first-ever official poster of ‘The Fantastic Four First Steps,’ courtesy of Vanessa Kirby, has sent Marvel fans into a frenzy. The poster, the one-star attraction that floated on her Instagram wall, has everyone thirsting for a glimpse of the developments concerning light-shining that will be finally cemented in the summer. Enough said. It is indeed FANTASTIQUE.

It is basically a show. Human Torch setting everything ablaze; Invisible Woman conjuring those force fields; Mister Fantastic stretching into action; and The Thing looking ready to bench-press a skyscraper. And, for good measure, just lurking in the background is a robot with futuristic designs. And with the city’s sleek silhouette crisscrossing it all, the setting tells the story of a world filled with superheroic havoc; yet high on octane. July 25, come fast!

And the reactions really wrapped it up. “I CAN’T WAIT MY SUE STORM,” one user exclaimed with a barrage of fire emojis that would have melted the internet. Another expressed her views: “Maybe too soon to say this, but I think you might be the best Sue Storm,” an outright cheeky statement given the well-entrenched history that comes with this role. Then there was “I AM SO HAPPY I LOVE YOUUU,” which is… yep, agree.

Not everyone was shrieking with joy. One comment practically went off-track: “China ban movie from USA,” which… okay? Not sure where that came from, but sure, let’s throw that into the mix.

One of the most buzzworthy debates since its announcement has been the choice of Kirby as Sue Storm. While fresh in her performance as someone in ‘The Crown’ and ‘Mission: Impossible,’ here she is, stepping into a role precedent to her by Jessica Alba and Kate Mara. If the poster is any indication of how she’s playing opposite the cast, she’s going to be bringing something new to the table.

Matt Shakman is at the helm, the latest attempt by Marvel to breathe life into the First Family of comics and now they’re going rather big. And with a cast this strong, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, it must be, right?

If the initial feelings of audiences are any indication, they might just pull it off, and the hype starts so early that, much unlike any other movie, tickets aren’t even on sale yet. Well, technically, they are; Kirby dropped a link to Fandango in her caption, obviously, because Marvel clearly knows how to milk the pre-sale money.

So grab yourself a marker and circle that date; the Fantastic Four make their long-awaited, deserved debut into the MCU come July 25th, and if that poster is anything to go by, the days ahead promise to be anything but smooth.

For Kirby? Well, she has already made an impression on a good chunk of the audience. It remains to be seen if she will turn out to be the best Sue Storm yet, but one thing is for sure: The hype train has left the station full speed ahead, and really, we could all just be flailing along for dear life.
