United Airlines (UAL) posted fourth quarter earning that topped Wall Street estimates on both the top and bottom lines. It also issued first quarter earnings guidance that was much stronger than expected. Mike Boyd, President of Boyd Group International tells Morning Brief hosts Brad Smith and Seana Smith that the airline’s growth is being driven by things like flying premium routes such as Marrakech and Greenland. “Remember, these higher premium revenues are coming from higher premium routes. This is an airline that’s looking at the future, particularly internationally with places like Marrakech,” Boyd says. “They’re adding routes like that because they see they can get a lot of premium revenue there.” Additionally, Boyd touches on how other carriers, like Delta (DAL) and American Airlines (AAL), are navigating the changing regulatory landscape. Watch the video above to hear Boyd also discuss the impact of President Donald Trump’s administration’s regulatory approach and stress the need for FAA reform, including more air traffic controllers.
