The transfer window has shut after a mini opening ahead of the summer’s Club World Cup. The window will re-open on 16 June and clubs are continuing to make deals in the interim.
There have been plenty of moves already in the Premier League with Matheus Cunha, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jeremie Frimpong, Liam Delap, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki among the biggest names to switch clubs.
Arsenal hope to bring in Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Arteta has made RB Leipzig striker, Benjamin Sesko, their No 1 target for a striker.
Chelsea have been rebuffed in their efforts to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens though remain interested in signing him while Liverpool, who have already brought in Jeremie Frimpong, are making plans for a Florian Wirtz medical after a fourth bid of £118m.
Over in Manchester, United have secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m, and are negotiating with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo with Viktor Gyokeres also on the list of wanted strikers while Manchester City have signed Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves, AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Lyon’s Rayan Cherki.

PSG want to keep Barcola this summer
It sounds like Bradley Barcola isn’t going anywhere this summer, despite reports that he would be interested in a move away as he fights for more minutes.
The PSG attacker has found himself competing with Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for playing time and had to settle for a substitute appearance in the Champions League final.
But PSG apparently do not plan on selling the 22-year-old:

Leverkusen interested in Quansah
Leverkusen are meanwhile looking to use their relationship with Liverpool to sign a centre-back, with Jarell Quansah on their target list.
That’s according to The Athletic, which reports that the 22-year-old defender is wanted in Germany, with an expected price tag of £40m. Liverpool are thought to be reluctant to sell Quansah, although selling an academy talent would add some PSR headroom.

Wirtz to sign for Liverpool after returning from holiday
Liverpool’s deal to sign Florian Wirtz is done and agreed with both club and player, but the small hold up is because the midfielder is currently on holiday.
Wirtz will travel to Anfield next week to complete his medical, when he will sign on the dotted line in a transfer worth around £120m.

Man Utd dealt Gyokeres blow
Manchester United will not be able to purchase Viktor Gyokeres for £59m (€70m) after claims from Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas.
Previous rumours had seemingly revealed that Gyokeres had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with the club that he would be allowed to leave this summer for a price lower than his £85m (€100m) release clause.
But, Varandas has squashed those rumours and with it probably Manchester United’s interest in signing the forward.
“I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €60m plus €10m because I never promised that,” Varandas said.
“To this day Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres — neither today nor last season.”

Cunha reveals emotional reason behind Manchester United transfer
Manchester United have made their first summer signing and the biggest buy of Ruben Amorim’s reign as Matheus Cunha’s £62.5m move to Old Trafford has been completed.
The Brazil forward, who said he was a boyhood United fan from watching them in his grandmother’s home, has signed a five-year deal, with the club possessing an option to extend his stay until 2031.
They had triggered his release clause at Wolves and were waiting for the 26-year-old to return from international duty to finalise the move.

Robertson talks up Wirtz
Andy Robertson has spoken about Florian Wirtz who is rumoured to be on the way to Liverpool for a record breaking fee this summer.
“He was excellent against us. He was the one causing problems, in the half space, running in behind, he can mix it up,” Robertson said.
“That was enough for me to see he’s going to be a top player. In the Germany team against us he was excellent. If we get him through, an exciting talent through the door.
“We have already got a lot of exciting talent. He’s a right good player and he’ll only help us. If he does get through the door we’ll be excited to play with him.”

Bayern Munich’s director of sport has opened up on the club’s failed bid to sign Florian Wirtz.
Bayern approached Wirtz but the 22-year-old chose to join Liverpool, who were also prepared to pay much more to capture their premier target this summer.
“If I’m honest, I don’t know if we could have paid what Liverpool are apparently paying now,” Max Eberl said, speaking to Sky Germany.
“Florian Wirtz is an outstanding player. We could have imagined signing him. But when a door closes, another opens.”
Eberl tipped Wirtz to “make his mark” at Anfield. “He is an outstanding player.”

Bayern ahead of Arsenal in race for Williams
Meanwhile Arsenal, who themselves have registered their interest in Gyokeres, are still pushing ahead to sign one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets, Nico Williams, but they may have been beaten to the punch.
The Sun reports that the Gunners are weighing up a first bid for the Spain international, 22. But Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich are the frontrunners after already meeting his release clause at Athletic Bilbao. Is it too late for Arsenal to swoop?
