New details into the death of beloved Food Network star Anne Burrell have been released.
As we previously reported, the celebrity chef was found dead in her home back in summer 2025. Sadly, she was found “surrounded by pills” and her death was eventually ruled a suicide. Her family at the time were confused over that ruling, as they never expected Anne to go through with something like that. She also left behind her devastated and puzzled husband, Stuart Claxton.
Now, on Wednesday, the New York Police Department confirmed to People in a statement that Anne left a “suicidal note” in the bedroom of her Brooklyn home. They also discovered “suicidal” journal entries scattered on the bed in the same room.

The NYPD confirmed that her husband was the one to find her. As a report viewed by the outlet stated, in the early morning hours of June 17, a person “married to Anne” had “noticed that the bed was made in their room which is not normal”. From there, he reportedly found the chef lying on the floor of the bathroom “with a bunch of over the counter pills on the floor” next to her. He tried to wake her by “shaking her and slapping her face” but it was no use. He immediately called 911 after that.
The report also stated that Stuart cooperated with the PD and told them his wife “never attempted suicide in the past” and “never talked about it”. He also said she had never shown “any signs that she would do something like this”. So, so sad.
