Coyote Pass was intended to be a compound for Kody Brown’s family, with each wife having their own home on their own parcel of land; however, after Janelle, Christine, and Meri separated from the Sister Wives star, things started to get complicated.
It may be time to put a fork in the Coyote Pass dream.
On the most recent episode of Sister Wives, the uncertainty surrounding the plot of land the Brown family purchased back in 2018 continued to be a point of contention between Kody and at least one of his exes — as Janelle started to question whether she wanted any part of the property anymore.

The family acquired the large lot in 2018 with the vision of creating a compound for Kody, his four wives, and their children, where each wife would have her own home and parcel of land. But over the years, Christine exited the plural marriage and sold her portion to Kody and Robyn. Janelle and Meri followed suit, although they still have vested interests in the property.
After spending time with her daughter Maddie in Montana, Janelle began considering moving there instead of to Coyote Pass.
“I’ve actually thought about asking if he wants to buy me out,” Janelle told Christine after her visit. She mentioned that while she’s always desired her own piece of land with a garden and some animals, her trip to Montana made her realize she could still achieve that dream “elsewhere.”
“However, if Kody’s not willing to buy me out, then I’m going to have to do something with it. But we’ve got to pay it off, and he’s not discussing it with me,” she added, revealing that all communication between her and her ex had essentially stopped since she expressed her desire to leave their relationship.

“So I think I’m going to have to lawyer up, I think, because I think that’s the only way I’m ever going to get any kind of decision out of him,” she continued. In a confessional, she admitted she actually has “no legal rights” to make a claim on the property, given that there was no legal marriage between them.
Making it clear that it was over, Janelle stated that she doesn’t want Kody “to be part of my new life” post-split. She then added, “As soon as the Coyote Pass property is settled and I can get my part out, I probably won’t interact with him ever again,” telling Christine, “The land keeps me tied here.”
In his own confessional, Kody expressed his belief that Janelle would build on Coyote Pass before saying, “If Janelle builds on Coyote Pass, then I’ve got to decide if I’m going to be neighbors with somebody who essentially just said I’m done with you.”
If the words of his only remaining wife, Robyn, are any indication, she would love for Janelle to stay, although that seems unlikely.
“If Janelle were to move, it would devastate me. I don’t know how to let this all go, and I am not going to let go of Janelle,” she expressed during the episode. “They could still work it out, and we could still be a family. That’s how I see this, and I feel like I’m kind of the idiot that just won’t get it.”
While the plot of land under Janelle’s name was reportedly paid off in 2023, it seems that nothing has been developed on Coyote Pass yet.
Sister Wives airs Sundays on TLC.
In conclusion, the drama surrounding Coyote Pass and the Brown family continues to unfold as each member navigates their own path post-separation. With Janelle reconsidering her ownership of the property, Christine exploring legal options, and Kody facing decisions about the future of the compound, the future remains uncertain for the once envisioned family haven. As the saga unfolds, viewers are left to wonder what will become of Coyote Pass and how the dynamics between the exes will evolve.
