Mother Dairy, one of the leading milk suppliers in the Delhi-NCR region, has announced a fresh hike in milk prices, raising rates by up to Rs 2 per litre. The revised prices will be effective from Wednesday, April 30, and apply across all major milk variants including full cream, toned, double-toned, and cow milk.
This move follows a similar revision last June, and the company has cited a significant rise in procurement costs up by nearly Rs 4-5 per litre, as the primary reason behind the latest increase.
With the new pricing in effect, the full cream milk pouch will now cost Rs 69 per litre, up from Rs 68. The popular toned milk (pouch) will now be sold at Rs 57, while double-toned and cow milk will cost Rs 51 and Rs 59 respectively. Bull-vended toned milk has also seen a price increase from Rs 54 to Rs 56 per litre.

Summer heat, rising input costs drive price pressure
According to Mother Dairy, the early onset of summer and prevailing heatwave conditions have disrupted supply chains and increased raw milk procurement costs. These costs have surged by Rs 4–5 per litre over recent months, forcing the company to recalibrate retail prices.
“This price revision has been necessitated to address the significant increase in procurement costs,” a spokesperson from Mother Dairy said.
Mother Dairy clarified that the hike represents only a partial pass-through of the rising input costs, highlighting the company’s effort to balance farmer remuneration with consumer affordability. The brand supplies nearly 35 lakh litres of milk daily across Delhi-NCR through its booths, retail network, and online platforms.
“We remain committed to ensuring consistent availability of quality milk to consumers while supporting the livelihoods of our farmers,” the spokesperson added.
Industry trend: Amul hiked prices earlier
The hike comes weeks after Amul revised its prices by Rs 2 per litre in Delhi-NCR, suggesting an industry-wide response to soaring procurement expenses.
With this upward revision, households will need to adjust their budgets slightly, as dairy remains a staple in most kitchens. However, experts believe that a partial hike was unavoidable given the sharp rise in farmgate prices.
