AJ Styles recently praised CM Punk for his insane body transformation following the Best in the World’s recent Undisputed WWE Championship victory. Punk recently returned to WWE following a 3 month hiatus at RAW in Chicago where he defeated Sami Zayn to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. Styles recently talked about Punk’s physique saying that he had to sacrifice a lot for it.

Despite being one of the best in-ring professional wrestlers of all time, CM Punk was never known for his physique. Punk’s physique never resembled that of the shredded top stars in WWE like John Cena, Batista and Roman Reigns. However, Punk recently underwent a major body transformation ahead of WrestleMania. AJ Styles talked about it on the latest episode of his Phenomenally Retro podcast. He revealed that he texted Punk to compliment his physique.

“He looks amazing. I actually sent him a text. I said, ‘Dude, I hope you feel as good as you look.’ He looks awesome. ; I’m pretty sure he’s 48. He may be a couple months behind me, and I’m 49. So the fact that he looks that good is freaking awesome, and I am proud of him. I just am over the moon excited for what’s next because I know what that’s like to be in that position. You want to give it one last hard run before your career is finally up. You want to look as good as you possibly can,” he said.

AJ Styles further mentioned how hard the diet is to maintain a physique like Punk. He mentioned how one has to sacrifice a lot for it.

“Now I will say this. That diet is freaking hard. When I was shredded, I was the lightest I’d been in a decade, probably. A lot of people don’t know that, but when you get shredded, you look bigger. But that diet isn’t as fun. So it’s a sacrifice.” [H:T/WrestlePurists]

It is great to see AJ Styles compliment CM Punk for all the trouble he went through to achieve his physique.

Before facing Gunther in his retirement match, AJ Styles went one-on-one against the Best in the World for the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW. The two had faced each other in Ring of Honor during the initial days of their career and even crossed paths in an MITB qualifying match on RAW last year.

Their match on RAW ended as a no contest because of Finn Balor’s interference. CM Punk was feuding with Balor at the time which eventually led to their match at the Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Despite the match ending without a result, it was great to see Punk and Styles together in the ring one last time.
