UFC Perth is in the books, and Carlos Prates really lived up to his ring name, ‘The Nightmare’. The Brazilian showcased unreal striking prowess as he brutalized Jack Della Maddalena before finishing the former champion in Round 3. Safe to say UFC stars are impressed.

The main event started with a back-and-forth action between the pair, and Prates’ power advantage was immediately noticeable, drawing a reaction from his opponent each time he connected.

A glimmer of hope appeared for Maddalena as he secured a relatively easy takedown against ‘The Nightmare’ in the closing seconds of the opening round. While the experts expected the Australian to employ a grappling-heavy approach in the second round, Prates proved hard to take down as compared to the opening spell.

The Sao Paulo native then methodically dismantled his opponent. He started with leg kicks that severely affected Maddalena’s mobility, before unleashing combination striking that had the former champion hurt, bleeding, and wincing in pain as he made his way back to the corner after the end of the second round.

As the bell rang for the third round, Prates pounced on Maddalena with leg kicks and combination striking that ultimately sent the hometown boy crashing down to the canvas in pain. After some vicious ground and pound, referee Mike Beltran stopped the bout at the 3:17 mark of Round 3.

Following the bout, several UFC stars took to social media to praise the hard-hitting Prates for his dominant win.

Middleweight champion Islam Makhachev wrote:
