Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain meet again with the Reds taking a 1-0 lead back to Anfield for tonight’s Champions League last-16 second leg.
A classic smash-and-grab from the Premier League leaders, made possible by an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott’s late winner, means Arne Slot’s side will progress to the quarter-finals as long as they avoid defeat to the French champions.
But Luis Enrique’s team dominated the first leg in Paris and Liverpool know they cannot rely on Alisson’s saves alone against a hugely dangerous opponent, with winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia set to carry more of his threatening menace in PSG’s attack.
Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield in 19 games, having taken another step closer to the Premier League title with a 3-1 win over Southampton at the weekend. The Reds also have Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle to consider – but for now all their focus is on PSG.

Liverpool 0-0 PSG (1-0 Agg)
4min: It is a cagey start here as PSG squander an early corner.
But it is Salah who misses the first big chance of the game. Mac Allister finds the Egyptian on the edge of the box with a largely open goal, but a late Nuno Mendes dive blocks his shot.
The less said about the resultant corner the better.

5 minutes to kickoff!
The energy in the stadium is palpable as the teams take to the pitch and the fans belt out a goosebump-raising rendition of ‘You’ll never walk alone’.
Its all to play for tonight. Let’s get into it.
Another record on the cards for Mo Salah
Another day, another record equalled. It must get boring at some point.
Having been named in tonight’s starting XI, Opta report that Mohammed Salah will move level with Steven Gerrard as Liverpool’s second-most experienced Champions League player, with 73 appearances.
Only Jamie Carragher (80) has more.
Should Liverpool reach the final and Salah appear in every match, the Egyptian King will finish the season with 78. Might need one more season to cement that record!

‘PSG need a historic Champions League night at Anfield’
Liverpool have won an away first leg 39 times in Europe and gone through at Anfield on all 39 occasions so Paris Saint-Germain have to make history tonight if they are to be quarter-finalists. They have picked the same team as last week, hoping for the same performance and a different result. Liverpool are looking for the same team to produce the same result, but preferably with a different performance.

A concerning pattern for Andy Robertson
The increasing use of statistics and data in football has proven controversial in recent years, but sometimes the numbers simply do not lie. But make up your own mind how much stock you are putting into this one…
Andy Robertson today turns 31, and celebrates the moment with a Champions League start at Anfield. All well and good. Right?
Maybe not. Robertson has twice appeared for Liverpool, and has never won. The last two appearances came against Atletico Madrid in 2020 (2-3) and Bournemouth in 2023 (0-1).
If there was ever a night to buck the trend, it should be today.

Allez les who?
So reads the hand-drawn cover of tonight’s match programme.
Prominently featured is a wall displaying photos of those French Liverpool players, including Ibrahima Konate, Mamadou Sakho, and Djibril Cisse, all alongside a glimmering Champions League trophy, which, incidentally, PSG have never won.
All situated in a Louvre-like gallery, the piece is packed full of pointed references to Liverpool’s record over French sides – not likely to be a souvenir the away support will treasure.
Can Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have the required impact?
Georgia’s finest sporting export, nicknamed Kvaradonna, has not quite hit the ground running since moving to PSG in January. He has made seven league appearances since completing the €80 million transfer, scoring just once, but has had more success in European competition.
Kvaratskhelia already has one goal and one assist in three Champions League appearances, outstripping his league tally in half the game time.
Four shots on target were not enough for him to produce a goal in the reverse fixture, and the chances he created all came to nought.
He will need to be on top form tonight if PSG are to turn this tie around.

Slot hints at his tactics ahead of kickoff
Arne Slot suggests his Liverpool side may again rely on the same long-ball strategy which helped them win last week.
Liverpool were pinned back for long stretches in the first leg, resorting to route one passing as they struggled to play out. That is eventually how Harvey Elliott scored.
Here’s what Slot had to say about it: “If you play ten long balls, probably won’t be ten times you end up in front of the goalkeeper but that one time it changes the game.”
He was also asked whether Cody Gakpo was close to starting, saying: “Not close at all, he only played yesterday. It was the first time he trained in nearly three weeks. The players know you cannot train once after three or four weeks out and go to the intensity levels of a game like this.”
