EXCLUSIVE: Veteran television executive and producer Kate Fenske, who has held high-level positions at Sister, Entertainment 360 and UCP, is launching Hound, an independent film and TV production company.

Hound, whose logo is based on Fenske’s own dog, already has built an initial development slate with projects set up at multiple streaming platforms and studios in the US. Fenske has partnered with Campside Media on a podcast adaptation and is working with writers and filmmakers including Alex Cunningham (Dirty John), Karyn Kusama (Yellowjackets), Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay (The Mysterious Benedict Society), Chris Rogers (Halt & Catch Fire), Christos Nikou (Apples) and Zack Whedon (Southland). She also is partnered with Carolyn Strauss (The Last Of Us, Game of Thrones), with whom she previously worked at Sister, on several projects, and has two films in the works with producer Gary Foster.

“I founded Hound because everyone should have one in their corner, whether you’re a creator in need of a loyal champion, or a financier wanting a diligent producer to support the creative team and business imperatives,” Fenske said. “Having worked extensively on both sides of the creative table, as an executive and a producer, I’m excited to dedicate that collective experience to supporting talented writers and filmmakers in bringing their unique voices and ideas to fruition.”

Fenske most recently served as Chief Creative Executive at Sister LA, working for former global CEO Stacey Snider to establish the US arm of the company. In addition to overseeing scripted development and setting up shows at Netflix, Hulu, HBO, FX, Apple, Peacock and Sky, she produced Dan Levy’s film Good Grief for Netflix.

Prior to joining Sister, Fenske was President of Production for Entertainment 360, the joint venture between MRC and Management 360. Before that, she served as SVP Development at UCP for seven years, working under Dawn Olmstead. She shepherded such projects as Hulu’s The Act, Netflix’s Umbrella Academy, Bravo/USA’s Dirty John, USA’s The Sinner, YouTube’s Impulse and Peacock’s Brave New World.

Fenske’s resume also includes stints as head of development at Marti Noxon and Olmstead’s Grady Twins Productions and Head of Marketing for BBC One and Drama.
