As details continue to emerge about the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting on Saturday, an interview with the White House Press Secretary ahead of the event has taken on a whole new meaning. While chatting with Fox News on the event’s red carpet minutes before rounds were fired in the Washington Hilton hotel, Karoline teased Donald Trump’s speech as “funny,” “entertaining,” and get this… she quipped:
“[There] will be some shots fired tonight in the room.”
Yikessss…
Clearly, she was talking about playful zingers Trump likely planned to direct at guests during his speech, but as we know, there were actual shots fired by gunman Cole Allen in an attempt on Trump administration officials’ lives. The gunman didn’t make it into the ballroom where the dinner was being held, but he did shoot one officer, who was luckily saved by a bulletproof vest.
What a dark coincidence…

On Sunday, Karoline took to Instagram to reflect on the shooting:
“What was supposed to be a fun night with President Trump delivering jokes and celebrating free speech was hijacked by a depraved anti-Trump lunatic who sought to assassinate the President and kill as many top Trump administration officials as possible.”
The 28-year-old, who is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Nicholas Riccio, 60, continued:
“I was with President Trump and the First Lady back stage after we were quickly ushered to safety by Secret Service. President Trump was truly fearless, but as he said last night, this political violence needs to end. Thank you to law enforcement for keeping all of us safe, including the brave agent who took a bullet to the chest and immediately moved to neutralize the shooter.”
She left off by adding:
“Pray for our country.”
