On Sunday, Israel officially informed the United Nations of its decision to withdraw from a longstanding agreement with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), citing concerns “over security”. In a letter addressed to UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang, Israel’s Foreign Ministry stated that the decision affects the 1967 agreement regarding UNRWA’s operations in support of Palestinian refugees.
