Connecticut adult-use cannabis prices continued a downward trend in November.

However, retail prices in the limited-license state remain twice as high as in neighboring Massachusetts – and falling prices aren’t translating to increased sales, according to state data.

The average price for a gram of cannabis in Connecticut fell to $7.94, down from $8.43 in October.

Cannabis prices in Connecticut’s adult-use market peaked at $12.51 per gram in March 2024. Adult-use sales began in January 2023.

But the decline in retail prices isn’t boosting legal Connecticut cannabis sales, according to state data.

Connecticut cannabis sales decline

In November, when most cannabis retailers see a brief spike in sales before Thanksgiving, medical and adult-use cannabis sales in Connecticut totaled $23.9 million, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.

That’s down slightly from the October tally of $24.6 million.

The number of products sold also declined, from 597,200 in October to about 592,300 in November.

Annual sales in 2024 exceed $290 million.

Absent a robust December, annual Connecticut legal cannabis sales are on pace to decline year-over-year.

Cumulative 2025 sales through the end of November stand at $263.9 million.

Connecticut cannabis consumers are buying less than other states

Sales in Massachusetts, which has more than double the population, are also dropping – but remain much stronger than Connecticut’s.

Massachusetts adult-use cannabis sales fell from $141.6 million in October to $135.2 million in November, according to state Cannabis Control Commission data.

In November, Massachusetts consumers paid an average of $4.01 per gram – less than half Connecticut’s prices.

In addition to state and local taxes, Connecticut cannabis consumers pay a potency tax per milligram of total THC. The rate varies depending on the type of product.
