Check This Out: ‘The Odyssey’ Popcorn Bucket is a Big IMAX Camera

“Lights…camera…popcorn!” 🍿🎥 They actually did it! IMAX just revealed their own special popcorn bucket offering for The Odyssey and it’s an actual IMAX camera as a popcorn holder. Hilarious! As everyone knows, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is the first ever movie filmed entirely with IMAX cameras, which Nolan has been trying to do ever since The Dark Knight. They even invented new cameras for this project – the first is the state-of-the-art “Keighley” camera (named after one of its inventors) along with the massive filming “blimp” to put the camera inside of (to cover up loud noises IMAX film strips make while recording). “Now you can crunch in style with the limited-edition IMAX Film Camera Popcorn Bucket inspired by the legendary IMAX 15/65mm Camera, the very camera Christopher Nolan has called ‘the Gold Standard’ and used on films such as The Dark Knight, Interstellar, Oppenheimer, and The Odyssey. A tribute to IMAX’s groundbreaking film technology & the craft of filmmaking, this collectible bucket features a viewfinder that lights up to reveal a scene from Nolan’s latest epic, The Odyssey, in IMAX’s exclusive 1.43:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio.” I’m personally not a big fan of the popcorn bucket trend, it’s mostly just plastic waste as a marketing gimmick. But I’ll admit this is cool. Super clever to go with this instead of just a helmet or sword.

Head over to the IMAX.com store to buy one of these camera popcorn buckets now if you want to grab one.

Thanks to IMAX for revealing this fun new popcorn bucket as we await the release of The Odyssey this July.

The Odyssey follows Odysseus (Matt Damon), the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. Depicting encounters with mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in his long-awaited reunion with his wife, Penelope. The Odyssey is directed by the acclaimed, Oscar-winning British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, director of the movies Following, Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer previously. The screenplay is also by Christopher Nolan, adapted from the iconic ancient Greek epic poem Odyssey attributed to Homer. With cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema, and music composed by Ludwig Göransson. It’s produced by Emma Thomas & Christopher Nolan through their own company Syncopy. Universal Pictures will release Nolan’s The Odyssey in theaters worldwide starting on July 17th, 2026 this summer. Who’s ready to watch now?
