A cargo jet operated by UPS has crashed near Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky. Local outlet WDRB reported that UPS Flight 2976 caught fire and crashed shortly after takeoff around 5:15 p.m. local time. Video shows the aircraft’s left engine engulfed in flames upon takeoff, with it crashing shortly after.
“The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 was headed to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu,” the FAA said in a statement to WHAS11. “The FAA and NTSB will investigate.”

A shelter-in-place order was issued around 5:30 p.m. for everything within a five-mile radius of the airport. Thus far, there is no word on any potential casualties, although local police did announce reports of injuries. UPS confirmed in a statement that the jet was carrying three crew members upon takeoff.
