President Biden delivered remarks Monday at the White House in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling that granted broad immunity to former President Trump and other presidents from prosecution for official acts. Biden went after the high court, saying “the power of the office will no longer be constrained by the law.” He noted that the decision “almost certainly means that there are virtually no limits on what a president can do,” adding that it’s a dangerous precedent.”
In a historic 6-3 ruling, the court’s conservative majority narrowed the case against Trump and returned it to the trial court to determine what is left of special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment. The former president reacted to the decision Monday on Truth Social, calling it a “BIG WIN FOR OUR CONSTITUTION AND DEMOCRACY.”
