It’s that time of year again when you could ‘cook an egg on the sidewalk’, and you’re likely searching the big box stores or even your own closet for a comforter that won’t make you sweat the bed.

If you’ve finally had enough of waking up in a puddle, then I recommend looking into some lightweight and cooling comforters. They’re more than just being thinner than your average comforter. I’ve rounded up the best Lightweight Comforters out there for you.

So, if you’re wondering what comforters are genuinely made to keep you cool even in the hot summer, here’s a short list of our three favorites:

CoolingSilver TreatedColor OptionsOEKO TEX Standard 100 CertifiedCost (Queen Size)Miracle BrandYesYesYesYes$215RESTYesNoYesYesCurrently $160, original price $229SilveryYesYesNo (only has gray)YesCurrently $129.95, original price $149.95

What’s in a Comforter?

miracle brand

At its core, every comforter is made up of three things: the outer shell, the inner fill, and whatever technology has been woven into the fabric.

The outer shell is what actually touches your skin, so the feel and quality of that layer matters more than most people realize. The inner fill is everything stuffed inside – and unlike a duvet, the fill in a traditional comforter can’t be removed or swapped out, though many comforters can still be slipped inside a duvet cover if you prefer that setup.

The technology side of things is where brands are really competing right now. Through different construction and weaving techniques, companies are finding ways to make comforters more breathable, hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking, and genuinely cooling – which is exactly what sets the three brands in this comparison apart from a standard department store option.

Now, let’s dive into the specifics:

miracle brand

Their Cooling Comforter uses temperature regulation as a core benefit. What hot sleepers don’t want is for heat to stay trapped. Miracle Made’s Cooling comforter outer shell is jersey-knit and made of 90% nylon and 10% spandex which is how it remains cool-to-the-touch. The comforter is meant to be lightweight and cooling with 100% polyester as a down-alternative fill.

A great benefit to the silver-infused bedding is its ability to stay fresher between washes. The silver finish is designed to limit the bacteria that causes odor. So, if you’re also looking to go longer in between washes, Miracle Made would be a great choice!

The comforter’s Jersey-knit is great for those who like a smooth/soft feel, similar to cotton but not as hot. Miracle Brand’s Cooling comforter has a smooth, cool feel but could be more of an investment based on its higher price point.

Honestly, the main downside is price. If sleeping cool is your main goal though, then this specific comforter could have you feeling up to 4 degrees cooler on contact.

Return Policy

You have within 30 days to email them to return or exchange most products if you are not satisfied. They also cover shipping within the U.S.

Care Instructions

Machine wash warm with mild detergent

Wash with similar colors

Tumble dry low and remove promptly

Avoid rough surfaces (zippers, hooks, etc.)

Do NOT use fabric softener and powdered detergents

Trim loose threads, don’t pull

Do not use products containing benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acids, or chlorine bleach that can discolor fabric

rest

Rest has their products third party tested with SleepScore Labs doing a scientific study analyzing over 1,000 nights of sleep. 88% had better temperature regulation, reported improved sleep quality, and thought it was more cooling than the average comforters.

If simplicity is a big deal, Rest has less care instructions and is priced similarly to Miracle Made (except when on sale). Rest is currently cheaper than Miracle Brand due to its sale. You may not be a fan of it likely requiring washing more frequently since it is not silver-infused. It has a TENCEL and Sorona filling which is boasted to be cooling, moisture-wicking, and breathable.

Just like Miracle Brand, Rest is OEKO TEX standard 100 certified. Another comforter option that you can feel good about touching your skin. A downside to Rest is that it’s not silver-infused so you’ll likely find that it needs to be washed more often.

Return Policy

Rest mentions that returns must be initiated 30 days from the date of your order being delivered. There was an extended holiday return period last year in 2025 that included a 6-week return window.

Care Instructions

Machine wash cold

Tumble dry low

Drip dry

Do NOT bleach

silvery

This brand is similar to Miracle Made because their main appeal is that they are silver-infused. The difference would be that Silvery is the cheapest option and has a longer sleep trial (100 nights).

They boast that their comforter is up to 4 degrees cooler on contact, wicks away moisture, and has enhanced airflow to keep heat from becoming trapped.

Although, what they use in their comforter was not clearly stated on their website. They are OEKO TEX Standard 100 certified like the other two brands as well. They are not as transparent with materials used in their bedding as Rest or Miracle Brand.

Due to Silvery being made to be hypoallergenic, it helps to reduce morning stuffiness. If you struggle with allergies, then this might be the cooling comforter you’re looking for.

Material Considerations

If what you’re sleeping or putting on your body matters to you, then you will definitely want to make sure your comforter is OEKO TEX Certified. This means that the product has been tested independently for substances known to harm people or the planet and passed the test.

Although polyester is used in some of these comforters (Silvery is not straightforward about what their comforters are made with), they are OEKO TEX Standard 100 certified against a plethora of harmful chemicals.

Return Policy

Silvery has a 100-night trial and offers free returns on U.S. orders. To return, you email them with your order number and reason for returning. Their website mentions if your item is a “final sale” item at the time of purchase, that it is not able to be returned. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Care Instructions

Machine wash in warm or cold water using mild, liquid detergent

Avoid powdered detergents and harsh chemicals to protect silver infusion

Wash with similar colors to prevent dye transfer

Tumble dry low (add dryer balls to maintain softness)

Do NOT iron (avoid high heat or pressing)

Do NOT pull loose threads but trim with scissors to prevent damage to fabric/stitching

Keep comforter away from rough surfaces to avoid snags

Do NOT use fabric softeners, bleach, personal care products containing benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acids, or chlorine (can cause damage to cooling fabric and silver-infused fibers)

Each Brand’s Size Options

miracle brand

Rest and Silvery offer the most flexibility here, both carrying twin/twin XL, full/queen, and king/cal king.

Miracle Made keeps it to two sizes – full/queen and king/cal king – so if you’re shopping for a twin bed, that one’s off the table.

Each Brand’s Colors and Style Options

rest

When it comes to aesthetics, the three brands offer quite different ranges.

Silvery keeps it simple with Cool Gray, while Miracle Made gives you a choice between Crisp White and Stone Grey. If you’re trying to make your room feel larger and more open, white is a classic trick – but if stains are a concern, Miracle Made’s Stone Grey or Silvery’s Cool Gray are safer bets.

Worth noting: all three brands advise against bleaching, though Miracle Made’s white comforter can be treated with a mild detergent and vinegar if you want to keep things bright without damaging the silver-infused fibers.

If neutral tones aren’t your thing, Rest is the clear winner for variety. Their color lineup includes aqua blue (my personal favorite), arctic white, snow ivory, cool gray, lavender breeze, and midnight blue – so there’s something for just about every bedroom aesthetic.

What Makes a Comforter Truly Comfortable?

The Best Lightweight Comforters to Keep You Cool in Summer

Comfort is personal, and it really comes down to what kind of sleeper you are. If you run cold, you want something cozy and insulating; if you wake up drenched at 2am, you need serious temperature regulation.

Most people rely on a mix of senses when evaluating a comforter – how it feels against the skin is usually the first test, since anything scratchy or irritating is an immediate dealbreaker. Then there’s the look of it; a neutral color is easy to style with any bedroom, though a subtle pattern never hurts either.

For hot sleepers especially, what matters most is thermoception – your body’s ability to sense temperature changes. It’s not a sense most people think about, but it’s exactly what tells you whether a comforter is trapping heat or actually keeping you cool through the night.

All three of these brands make genuinely solid comforters, so there’s no truly wrong choice here. If you’re still on the fence, it helps to narrow it down by what matters most to you personally: price, color variety, silver-infused freshness technology, ease of care, hypoallergenic materials, or whether having a sleep trial is a dealbreaker.
