Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly told President Trump in May that his name was mentioned multiple times in the documents from the Jeffrey Epstein case, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. LiveNOW’s Andrew Craft is getting the latest reactions to this breaking news from the political world with Kaelan Deese is a Justice Department reporter for the Washington Examiner.
The administration didn’t publicly announce their decision about the Epstein files until July 7, when the Justice Department posted an unsigned memo on its website. The Justice Department said there was no list of Epstein’s clients and no evidence that compelled them to reopen the case and go after uncharged third parties.
A Florida federal judge has also denied a request from the Trump administration to release grand jury transcripts from the investigation into Epstein.
U.S. District Judge Robin Rosenberg said “her hands were tied” and that she could not release the material.
“Eleventh Circuit [federal appeals court] law does not permit this Court to grant the Government’s request; the Court’s hands are tied—a point the Government concedes,” Rosenberg wrote in a 12-page opinion.
