Earlier this month, entertainment mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was officially sentenced to 50 months in prison on federal prostitution charges. Diddy’s legal team has requested that he serve FCI Fort Dix’s Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) to serve his sentence, but one former inmate has warned about possible violence and gangs at the facility.
Diddy’s Lawyer Has a Special Request
According to a letter obtained by Fox News Digital, Combs’ attorney, Teny Geragos, asked that Judge Arun Subramanian request the Bureau of Prisons to suggest that Diddy be sent to Fort Dix.
In the letter, Geragos claimed that the prison’s RDAP program would help Diddy “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”
Former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Joe Giudice served his own prison sentence at the New Jersey prison. Giudice’s lawyer, James J. Leonard Jr., told Fox News that “some people would say [it] is a pretty easy place to do time.”
“Number one, they live within a certain area inside of the prison with other people that are in the program, right? So you’re not in the general population, you’re in a different housing area with other participants in the program, all of whom have been carefully screened, all of whom have to be both legally and clinically eligible,” Leonard told Fox News Digital.
Additionally, the program could help Diddy get a shorter sentence.
“So those 12 months would have him ultimately released in February 2027, give or take, in the event that he successfully completed the program and he received the maximum 12 months off,” Leonard said.
Not Everyone Gets In
Giudice served his sentence in the general population and was not part of the RDAP program. As Leonard explains, it’s not exactly easy to get into the program, even if you are placed in Fort Dix.
“You don’t just walk into a program, OK? There’s a waitlist, there’s other people. This is very desired, not only for the help that it provides, not only for the benefits of the living conditions, which are different than the others, but at the end of this, you get time off. So you have to behave,” Leonard said.
Diddy Receives a Clear Warning
If Diddy does go to Fort Dix, there’s a chance that he does not get into the special program and instead serves his sentence in the general population, like Giudice. If that turns out to be the case, Giudice has a clear warning for Diddy.
Giudice told Fox News Digital that he witnessed violence and gang activity during his time at Fort Dix, telling of one time he saw a knife attack.
“They just like stabbed each other as they’re walking across the track. It’s like you’ve barely even seen anything, but you know, they just like stabbed each other for whatever reason, you know, whatever it was,” Giudice told Fox News Digital.
