President Trump announced that he plans to deploy the National Guard to Chicago as part of his expanded crime crackdown.
Despite push back from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Chris Miller with the Illinois Freedom Caucus says it’s the right move.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the National Guard could be in Chicago as early as Friday, though no deployment has been officially confirmed.
President Donald Trump has vowed to send federal forces to Chicago as part of his crime crackdown, citing recent violence, and criticized Pritzker for rejecting federal help.
Trump confirmed he would send the National Guard to Chicago, but did not provide a timeline.
“We’re going to do it anyway. We have the right to do it because I have an obligation to protect this country,” Trump said.
