Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has gotten plenty of attention for his play this year and rightfully so — but another young player is developing into star status in Oklahoma City Thunder.
That would be 24 year old Jalen Williams, who averaged a career-high 21.6 points-per-game in the regular season and 21.7 in the postseason. He also played a pivotal role in the Thunder’s Game 5 win over the Indiana Pacers, scoring a playoff-best 40 points on 14-for-25 shooting while earning an additional 20 free throws.
“We gotta make sure he gets his credit, gets his flowers. I’m sure he’s not taking tonight and feeling accomplished,” said teammate and draft classmate Chet Holmgren.
“We still have a job to get done, and I’m sure that’s where his mindset is.”
