Warner Bros. President of Physical Production Michele (Missy) Imperato Stabile is retiring later this year after a career that spanned 40 years. In a letter to her colleagues, she says she will be retiring this October.

Imperato Stabile will continue to help with the transition planning over the next several months as she continues to oversee the team and productions currently underway.

Since joining Warner Bros., the beloved film exec has supervised a wide range of films including Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Minecraft, Sinners, as well as the upcoming One Battle After Another, The Bride!, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s next film starring Tom Cruise, Practical Magic 2 and the latest original movie from J.J. Abrams. At MGM/Orion, she oversaw House of Gucci, Thirteen Lives, The Boys in the Boat, the Oscar-nominated Licorice Pizza, Till, Cyrano, Creed III and the Oscar-winning Women Talking, among others.

Imperato has served as an executive, producer, executive producer, and production manager on more than 40 films in a career that spans four decades. During that time, she has worked alongside some of the most acclaimed filmmakers of the last two centuries, including Mike Nichols, Brian DiPalma, Ridley Scott, Paul Thomas Anderson, Tim Burton, and Ryan Coogler among countless others.

Today we share some bittersweet news that Michele (Missy) Imperato Stabile has made the decision to retire as President of Physical Production later this year.  The note she shared with her team follows below. 

We are tremendously grateful to Missy for her unwavering commitment to both of us, her team, her colleagues across WBD, and the many films she has overseen at Warner Bros., and previously during our time together at MGM/Orion.

Missy, to put it simply, is a legend. We cannot begin to express how sad we are, but that sadness is only equaled by our deep respect for her, a respect we know you all share.

This is a hard note to write—but here it goes.

As you may have noticed, I’m getting older, a bit slower, and possibly a touch more eccentric (though that’s still up for debate). So, the time has come for me — and my horses — to ride off into the sunset. We’re officially retiring. My last day will be October 3rd, but I’ll be around to support the transition. I’ve also agreed to consult and be available if needed after that.

This wasn’t an easy decision, mainly because working with all of you has truly been the best part of the job. From day one, you welcomed me to WBD like family. You showed up every day with ideas, energy, humor, and heart — not because you had to, but because that’s just who you are.

You made me laugh daily — and never once reported me to HR for calling you all “honey.” For that, and for so much more, thank you. You’ve made this job not only meaningful, but genuinely fun.

You are true professionals, and your dedication to WBD is both real and inspiring. I can’t express enough how much I admire, respect, and appreciate each of you. I feel incredibly lucky to be ending my career surrounded by the best of the best. Being part of this team has been the honor of a lifetime.
