This month, pound-for-pound No 1 Islam Makhachev defends his welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330.
The bout marks Makhachev’s first defence of the belt, which he won by dominating and outpointing Jack Della Maddalena in November, after giving up the lightweight belt following a record-breaking four successful defences.
And the Russian, 34, faces an intriguing test against the divisive Machado Garry, 28, who enters the fight with just one professional loss to his name.
The Irishman bounced back from that narrow points defeat by Shavkat Rakhmonov with wins over ex-champ Belal Muhammad and Carlos Prates, and he enters UFC 330 full of confidence.
The co-main event pits women’s strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern against Gillian Robertson, as Dern defends the belt for the first time, having been upgraded from interim-title holder. In October, during Zhilei Zhang’s reign atop the division, Dern outpointed Virna Jandiroba to win the interim strap, before Zhang moved up in weight and gave up her title.

When is UFC 330?
UFC 330 will take place on Saturday 15 August at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The early prelims will begin at 10pm BST (2pm PT / 4pm CT / 5pm ET), followed by the regular prelims at 12am BST on Sunday (4pm PT / 6pm CT / 7pm ET on Saturday); the main card will start at 2am BST on Sunday (6pm PT / 8pm CT / 9pm ET on Saturday).
How can I watch it?
In the UK, the card will air live on TNT Sports and is also accessible via HBO Max, EE TV, Virgin Media, Amazon Prime Video, and Sky Sports. In the US, Paramount+ will stream the action, with CBS showing a segment of the card.
