Ice Cube announced a headlining performance at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles on July 16, 2026 – and he made it plain what kind of night people are getting. On Instagram, Cube kept it short and direct: “Pulling up to Paso Robles for the California Mid-State Fair on July 16. Bringing all the West Coast Classics.”

Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 22 at 10am PT. Cube closed the caption with “bring everybody.” That’s the only instruction you need.

West Coast Classics is not a throwaway label. Ice Cube is a founding member of N.W.A – one of the most important groups in hip-hop history. The blueprint for West Coast gangsta rap didn’t exist yet. Then N.W.A came along and wrote it. Cube left the group in 1989 and built one of the most respected solo catalogs in the genre. “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted,” “Death Certificate,” “The Predator” – those albums set a standard. “It Was a Good Day,” “Check Yo Self,” “You Can Do It” – those singles are the West Coast Classics he’s talking about. Any set built around that catalog is going to go off.

Now add the fact that Cube is a household name well outside of music. He co-wrote and starred in “Friday” in 1995. That film took on a life of its own in pop culture. He’s acted in dozens of movies since and stayed active across business and media. Ice Cube is not just a rapper. He’s an institution. But this show is about the music – specifically the records that made him.

The announcement pulled over 12,000 likes within the initial posting window. For a straightforward tour-date drop without a teaser campaign or a featured-artist reveal, that’s a meaningful number. People are already locked in.

The California Mid-State Fair runs every summer in Paso Robles, in San Luis Obispo County. It’s a full fair – rides, food, livestock shows, all of it. The main stage has hosted big-name country, rock, and hip-hop acts over the years. Booking Ice Cube for a West Coast Classics headlining set is a serious get for the fair.

The framing matters. Cube didn’t bill this as a generic greatest-hits show. He said West Coast Classics, and that’s a specific lane. It places the performance squarely in the world of late-’80s and ’90s West Coast rap. That era shaped a generation. Hearing that music live, outdoors in Central California, is about as authentic as it gets.

No supporting acts have been announced yet. That could change before July. The showcase format does leave room for a surprise guest or two. A solo Cube set is still a heavy night on paper, though.
