After many years of waiting, Spider-Noir season 1 is finally getting ready to be released. Fans of the live-action adaptation of Spider-Noir season 1 are finally getting a superhero noir drama, with Nicolas Cage starring as Reilly. It has Cage as Reilly, a former vigilante back in action in the 1930s, looking to leave his dark past far in the past in New York City.
The first ever television series lead for Cage, he is also reprising the Spider-Man soul noir that he played in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
A black-and-white pulp parody created by Oren Uziel for MGM+ and Prime Video, Spider-Noir season 1 is a fusion of traditional detective storylines, action-packed comic-book vibes, and retro noir visuals.
The series exists in an alternate dimension as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and is already turning heads for its black-and-white visual technique and homage to 1940s Hollywood crime pics.
Spider-Noir season 1 premieres May 25, 2026 on MGM+ in the US and globally on Prime Video on May 27, with all eight episodes releasing together in both black-and-white and color versions starring Nicolas Cage as a noir-style Spider-Man detective in 1930s New York.
When and where is Spider-Noir season 1 releasing?
The entire season 1 of the series should be released on May 25, 2026, in the United States on MGM+. At the same time, the eight-episode season will be launched globally on May 25, 2026, on Prime Video. Another remarkable aspect of Spider-Noir season 1 will be that audiences will have two ways to view each episode.
The show will be presented in an “Authentic Black and White” version as well as a set of True-Hue Full Color episodes. As per reports, the production utilized black-and-white cameras and filtration during the shoot to emulate the look and feel of color film in the 1930s.
The filming of the first season of the Spider-Noir took place in Los Angeles, California, between 2024 and 2025. Production was halted for a while due to the Southern California wildfires in January 2025, but picked up again after. The show made its world premiere at the Regal Times Square, New York City, on May 13, 2026.
The soundtracks of the show cover the songs by Kris Bowers and Michael Dean Parsons. The other main single, Saving Grace by Kirby, was released earlier this month.

What is Spider-Noir season 1 about and who stars in it?
Spider-Noir season 1 features an exhausted private eye, Ben Reilly, who is set in an alternative universe of 1930s New York City. He previously existed as only a single crime-fighter in the city called Spider. But he fled that lifestyle after a tragedy and attempted to continue with his life.
The story kicks off when a deadly new case sees him forced to don the mask again. Reilly fights corruption, crime and secret conspiracies across the city, all while battling guilt, trauma, and his dark past.
Spider-Noir season 1 is led by Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly. From the draft, Cage said he played like a combination of old Hollywood people around, like Humphrey Bogart, with the cartoon energy of someone like Bugs Bunny.
Supporting cast members include Lamorne Morris as journalist Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as nightclub singer Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez as Janet and Abraham Popoola as Longie Lincoln aka Tombstone.
Jack Huston plays a heroic Flint Marko, aka Sandman, with Brendon Gleeson as Silvermane, a dangerous Irish mob boss, the patriarch of a criminal empire linked to Reilly’s history.
Other members of the cast who appeared more than once in Spider- Noir season 1 were Cameron Britton, Amy Aquino, Scott MacArthur and Andrew Robinson.
