Robbie G.K. would love to explore what happens after Kip’s sweeping kiss with Scott (François Arnaud) in Heated Rivalry Season 1.
The Canadian actor spoke to People about ways the hotly anticipated second season of the Jacob Tierney-created series could further explore the couple’s relationship. The two characters’ romance was first introduced in a standalone episode midway through the show’s run, with G.K. portraying a graduate art student and smoothie barista and Arnaud playing a high-profile closeted hockey player.
“We catch Scott and Kip on the very top of the rollercoaster of our storyline, and I think that there’s a whole lot that could be explored after the fact,” G.K. told the publication. “So I’d like to see some of that.”
Based on Rachel Reid‘s Game Changers book series, the eponymous first novel follows Scott and Kip’s budding romance; in the Crave Canada show, the couple’s public kiss catalyzes a major dynamic shift between main characters and superstar hockey rivals Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), as the latter is spurred to visit the former at his private cottage, the site where the two finally confess their love.
G.K. added of the “unbelievable” response to the show, which took the world by storm: “To be here on this carpet, let alone here in Los Angeles, and the impact the show has had, so I think every day it’s becoming more and more real and settling in, but yeah, it’s great.”
Earlier this year, Deadline exclusively announced G.K. signed with Amplified for management.
Executive producer, writer and director Tierney teased to Deadline his plans for Season 2, which include potentially splitting the book it will be based on, The Long Game, into a two-parter. The Letterkenny developer previously revealed the expected timeline for Season 2’s release is April 2027.
It’s currently unclear if Season 2 will delve into Scott and Kip storylines, as The Long Game is a direct sequel to the Shane and Ilya story. The former couple offers a supporting role in Common Goal, the fourth installment in Reid’s series. The author is working on a seventh entry, called Unrivaled, which will cap off the Hollanov trilogy.
