Connor McDavid scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the third period and added an assist, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored twice and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in Denver on Tuesday.

The Avalanche answered on their first power-play opportunity when Necas beat Ingram at 15:41. It was his career-high 29th goal of the season.
Edmonton tied it again when Roslovic scored at 19:35 of the first.
Nugent-Hopkins gave the Oilers the lead with his second goal of the game when he tipped a centering pass by Darnell Nurse at 4:15 of the second.
Edmonton had a power play for nearly four minutes at the end of the second and start of the third due to MacKinnon’s major penalty but couldn’t cash in. That allowed Nichushkin to tie the game when he tipped Sam Malinski’s shot by Jarry at 7:04 of the third.
Blackwood came off for an extra skater late in the game, but Colorado couldn’t score.
