The first trailers for Avengers: Doomsday, which began screening in theaters this week, have been leaked online. These leaked clips herald the return of a beloved character.

Marvel, having commenced promotional activities for the highly anticipated film Avengers: Doomsday, began showing the film’s first trailers in theaters across the US this week. Rather than releasing a single long trailer, Marvel chose to launch the promotional campaign with four short clips. Initially, these were shown exclusively in cinemas and were not uploaded online. However, it did not take long for these clips to leak onto the internet. One of these four short trailers, in particular, confirms the return of a fan-favorite character.

As you may recall, previous rumors claimed that Chris Evans would return as Captain America, though this was never confirmed by Marvel or Evans himself. With the leaked trailer, the return of Captain America is now official. One of the four short clips shown in theaters focuses directly on Steve Rogers—Chris Evans’ Captain America—and ends with the message: “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”

Another trailer, which was swiftly removed from almost all platforms by Marvel after being leaked, features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The character’s scarred face suggests a potential direct connection between this version of Doctor Doom and the Tony Stark seen at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

In Avengers: Doomsday, the new Avengers led by Sam Wilson, the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Wakandans will join forces against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. This massive film, featuring numerous characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is directed by the Russo Brothers, who previously helmed Infinity War and Endgame.

Avengers: Doomsday to be Released on December 18, 2026

The film features familiar MCU names such as Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Sebastian Stan, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Letitia Wright, alongside original X-Men actors like Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn.

Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, 2026. It will be followed a year later by Avengers: Secret Wars.
