We are now learning that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has halted all immigration processing for Afghan nationals as officials continue to review vetting protocols. This comes after two National Guard members were shot near the White House last week. The suspect, identified as Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, entered the U.S. in 2021 through ‘Operation Allies Welcome’, though his full background is still being confirmed. LiveNOW’s Mike Pache is learning more about the ongoing blame game with retired Marine Intelligence Officer, Hal Kempfer.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Joseph B. Edlow announced on Thursday, “At the direction of @POTUS, I have directed a full scale, rigorous reexamination of every Green Card for every alien from every country of concern.”
“Effective immediately, processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is stopped indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols,” the USCIS said in a post on social media.
The Department of Homeland Security also issued a statement saying, “The suspect who shot our brave National Guardsmen is an Afghan national who was one of the many unvetted, mass paroled into the United States under Operation Allies Welcome on September 8, 2021, under the Biden Administration.”
