Palestinians cheered Monday as Israel released nearly 2,000 prisoners as part of a newly signed peace deal. The hostages freed include around 1,700 of the several thousand Palestinians that Israeli troops seized from Gaza during the 2-year war and have held without charge. Last week, Hamas agreed to a peace deal pushed by President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and return remaining hostages, two years after the terrorist network attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
