“The mood swings! That one looks fun.” Pixar has revealed a funny look at one of their deleted scenes from Inside Out 2, which is now officially the #1 animated movie at the box office. The Pixar sequel has become a massive worldwide hit, which is especially amazing because it’s a wonderful movie that deserves this kind of glory. This sequel to Inside Out (2015) has Riley entering puberty and experiencing new, more complex emotions as a teen. As Riley tries to adapt to her first year as a teenager, her old emotions try to adapt to the possibility of being replaced – with the new set of teen emotions including anxiety (Maya Hawke), envy (Ayo Edebiri), ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos), and embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser). In this clip, director Kelsey Mann explains where the idea came from – we follow Joy (Amy Poehler), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Tony Hale), and Disgust (Liza Lapira) as they end up strolling into “Puberty Park” before discovering the Wanted posters with their faces on them. This clip is part of the promo for the Blu-Ray and VOD release of Inside Out 2. As much as I would enjoy seeing it in the movie, it makes sense why they cut it.

The little voices inside Riley’s head know her inside and out—but next summer, everything changes. Pixar’s Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Pixar’s Inside Out 2 is directed by animation filmmaker Kelsey Mann, a storyboard artist making his feature directorial debut after working on the Party Central short and the “Monsters at Work” series. The screenplay is by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein. Based on the original Inside Out by Pete Docter, Ronnie Del Carmen, Meg LeFauve, and Josh Cooley. Produced by Mark Nielsen. Disney debuts Pixar’s Inside Out 2 in theaters everywhere starting June 14th, 2024 this summer. Inside Out 2 will also be available on Blu-ray starting September 10th, plus on VOD this week.
