We are hearing more from U.S. Senators after their meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and Greenland Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt along with Denmark’s Ambassador Jesper Moller Sorensen. Sen. Angus King, the independent U.S. Senator from Maine, will host the meeting as part of the Arctic Caucus in the U.S. Congress. Sen Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska also answered questions from the press after the meeting.
Tensions have grown between Washington, Denmark and Greenland this month as President Donald Trump and his administration push the issue and the White House considers a range of options, including military force, to acquire the vast Arctic island.
